I am a slave, yes. I was born into this Great House by my slave mother. She was a strong woman with long flowing hair and piercing eyes. Captured long ago after a great battle, she was forced into serving the House. Over the years I imagine it just became a way of life. My father is a mystery. She never did tell who or when or how it happened and I stopped asking after she beat me soundly one night. She told me of Crom and Cimmeria, of her old life and how things used to be. But she raised me with one focus; to serve House Lok-ri in anyway that they see fit.

And I have done so for all the years in my life. It started in the fields and mansions when I was a boy. As I grew it became apparent to others that I was bred for battle. I killed my first man when I was just a teen. A tall, dark man gave me a sword. He said to me “use or it or die” as he closed the arena gate behind me. So I did. I pushed my blade into this poor, Aquilonian prisoner’s throat until my hands were on his neck. His blood soaked my sandals as my heart sped in my chest. I smiled as I pulled the sword out. I had found my means of service.

Over the years I have earned my freedom, in a sense. I am not confined to a cage or made to kiss the feet of my rulers. I’m not shackled and then led into battle but I do know my place and my place it to serve. Do I care if you are Cimmerian, Stygian or Aquilonian? It does not matter to me. If you are any enemy to this House or to me then I will enjoy the look on your face as you watch your entrails fall onto your feet.
